Pride Jazzy Select 6 Powerchair

I've been using my Pride Jazzy Select 6 power chair for about 5 years now so feel well qualified to review it! The chair has the 'captain' style seat akin to a car seat. This is supportive but I had to get mine modified to improve the lumbar support. The chair is easily manouverable and turns in its own diagonal length. It fits through a standard 30" household doorway. It is a 4mph chair, so designed for pavement use (not road), with a range of approx 15 miles. As with all power chairs the range is on flat level surfaces, using the chair on rougher surfaces reduces this range. The chair copes well with grassed surfaces providing they are not damp, the slightest dampness means that you get bogged down & have to find someone to help you get moving again. Battery life is indicated by a series of coloured LED lamps, so you get plenty of warning that it is time to return home. I've only had one time when the batteries went flat & that was due to them being old & having reduced capacity plus using the chair on a dry but bumpy field at a country show. I JUST made it back to my car. The chair arms are easily removable and it fits well on my 150kg rated Autochair car hoist. One negative side is that the seating cannot be customised as you might require with a normal wheelchair. I fnd that my bottom gets sore after using it for a full day, but this is not my normal useage as I only use it outdoors.
