Flexyfoot Ferrule and Ice Boot

4.3 out of 5 stars

I have been using the Flexyfoot Ferrules on my crutches which I need at all times both indoors and out.

I have been very happy with them in most aspects. They are flexible and make me feel safer on most floor or ground types. However the pads wear down faster than my old ferrules so need replacing more often. That said, given the fair cost the over cost of replacement is not much more than my older ferrules over a year.

I did invest in the ice boot, these are an add on to use in the bad weather and have sharp teeth meant to be able to allow better grip in ice and snow. this is then covered with a thicker cover to revert to indoor use. I have found these to be tricky as they are only useful on ice but while it stops the crutches from slipping away my feet still do, so in fact still not safe.

While I will continue to buy the ferrules I will not use or purchase the ice boot again.

Flexyfoot ferrule makes using crutch/stick safer & easier

5 out of 5 stars

I got my first Flexyfoot ferrules at Naidex when they were new, a few years ago. I loved them.

I had to get new ones when I changed to a stick from crutches- they come in two different sizes, and I needed the smaller ones. The old ones were still in perfect condition! The larger one is for tubular metal sticks and crutches, the smaller one is for a smaller stick. They are surprisingly standard!

You just remove the old ferrule (the bit that touches the ground) and put these on- you may need to adjust the stick/crutch as it makes it a bit higher. Inside of the ferrule it has a spring that allows it not only to have a shock-absorber action, but more importantly to allow the end of the stick to bend to meet the ground. It's a wide ferrule, so on uneven ground, gravel, sand, or up/down hill, it helps you maintain better balance. It wears more evenly (and its very durable) and it has channels so water doesnt get trapped underneath- you don't get worn off edges on this ferrule. It wears evenly so remains safe much longer.

If the bottom wears out, you can buy a replacement spring element at a lesser cost (it's easy to replace). You can also get a little cap with teeth for use on ice!

I love my flexyfoot!

Flexyfoot

This makes walking with a stick, crutches or even a frame easier and safer.

These wear much better than a standard ferrule, and you can replace parts if they do wear.

I got mine at a large retail-chain Chemist: they aren't as cheap as plain ferrules, but they last a lot longer and provide better value because of how well they improve mobility.
