Getting out of bed just got easier

4 out of 5 stars

I was sceptical about this because getting out of bed had been getting so tricky, but from the first time using it I have been amazed by how simple and effective it is. I usually find that disability aid things mostly fulfill my needs but have problems- not this though.

It’s remarkably sturdy feeling and raises my up to sitting in less than a minute so getting out of bed is so much easier, my carer doesn’t need to strain or pull so they appreciate it too. Lying in bed is fine, it doesn’t feel uncomfortable - I barely notice it. I can’t move around in bed though so someone who rolls around might have a different experience with it. Mine was provided via my OT from social services.

It’s also marvellous for sitting up in bed to read or watch TV, it doesn’t have a slow air release going on, so I stay sat up for a couple of hours. Deflation is simple too, it gently flattens.

I can’t recommend this highly enough.

Handy Pillowlift Backrest

NHS Prescribed

I guess that whether you rate this highly depends on whether it’s provided by the nhs or whether you buy it - and on your own financial position if you do. From all the other aids I’ve had this is probably the best because of how well it is designed.

BAS Push/Pull Brake/Accelerator

5 out of 5 stars

BAS product the best hand controls I've ever used. Their Push Pull controls launched earlier this year have been designed to allow for full movement of the steering wheel. This means that with these controls anyone driving can set the wheel at the best and safest driving position for them. This is one of the complaints my husband has about driving my car, as my steering wheel is clearly set up in the best position for me, which puts it in completely the wrong position for him.”

The design of these controls also means that the vehicle’s airbags do not have to be removed or interfered with when they are fitted so the driver’s safety is not compromised in any way.

These hand controls are on the Motability scheme with nil customer contribution.
