Autochair Car Wheelchair Hoist

5 out of 5 stars

I've been using Autochair car wheelchair hoists for over 10 years now. They are well engineered and are good value for money. The hoists are easy to use, you just clip on the lifting straps to your wheelchair or scooter & then press the 'up' button, followed by the 'in' button & that's it! Press the 'out' button & then the 'down' button to get your chair out again.
I've only had one problem over the years & that was caused by an electrical connection becoming loose, this was repaired in less than 5 mins by my local disability products installer.
They are available as an option on Motability, which is a good endorsement of their quality.
One negative point is that the buttons on the control are of the plastic 'bubble' type so can't be operated if you're wearing gloves - this might have been redesigned in current products so may no longer be a problem.

RiDC have useful information on hoists and other solutions to getting a wheelchair or mobility scooter into the back of the car:

  • I agree to your terms and conditions

-The Smart Lifter LC range is the medium size of their three hoists that suit a range of mobility vehicles, from wheelchairs to scooters. The LC range lifts up to 100kg of weight, with both 80kg and 100kg hoist options.

-Due to its weight limit, this hoist is best suited to mini scooters or wheelchairs.

-This hoist is simple and easy to operate, lifting and loading your wheelchair or mini scooter in 60 seconds, and can easily be transferred to a new vehicle if you change car.

-The other two ranges are:

  • LM Range (40 – 80kg)
  • LP Range (125kg, 150kg and 200kg)
