The first thing to say about this product is that it is not a fan! Although cool air blows from the adjustable directional vent at the front of the device it is no where near at the speed or intensity of a normal fan. What this device does very effectively is to take in warm air in the room and cools it before blowing back into the room. Surprisingly, not only does it cool the air immediately in front of the device, the optimum place to be for the full cooling effect, but it also gradually reduces the temperature of an average sized living room. The device works by pouring cold water into a thin tank on the side of the machine. On the lowest setting you get a slight gentle breeze and the cooler will run for around 8 hours, ideal for keeping you cool through the night without blasting air into your face or loud noise. The device comes with a very effective built in night light with many colours to choose from or a rotating sequence. When the water needs to be topped up, the light flashes yellow. After 6 months you have to change the filter, an easy procedure that could be achieved one-handed. Looking at the filter, it really does remove dirt and dust from the air. Because it uses water one major tip is to empty the device when it will not be in use for any length of time. Overall the product does everything it says it does but there may be issues with refilling using a large jug of water for people with tremors or weakness.
