Alexa - Show and Tell

5 out of 5 stars

My family love technology and anything that makes day-to-day life that bit simpler, easier or more fun.
The Amazon Echo Show is all three.
We have been Alexa fans since the first generation, and the introduction of a display screen was something that I was very excited about, and I couldn't wait to have one.
The setup was quick and painless, with the device up and running within 5 minutes of getting it out of the box.
It connected easily with my email accounts and calendars, immediately showing relevant information about my schedule on the screen.
The displays rotate interesting news articles, calendar entries, to-dos and local weather, each with a thoughtful background image to make the screen visually appealing.
If the news article appeals to you, just say, "Alexa, tell me more" and the story is read out to you and shown on the screen. Similarly, lyrics are displayed Karaoke style in time with the song as you listen to music.
Naturally, the smart home features such as lights on/off and setting temperatures take a little more setting up, but the process is smart and intuitive.
As I already have an existing Alexa device, I put the older one in another room and can use it to talk to family members or make announcements like, "We're leaving in 5 minutes".
I have mobility problems and fall over often, I liked that I could just ask it to call someone and get assistance. It can hear you from some distance.
The sound quality is excellent with a good representation of audio tracks from my phone or through Amazon music and radio stations. There is sufficient volume to go from background noise to house-party, with volume changes a voice command or touch button away.
The touch-screen can also be used to scroll through articles on display, so if you missed something, you could easily swipe up to return or skip sections with a downward swipe.
I absolutely love the Echo Show from Amazon, and I liked it so much I bought one for my mum too!
With a price tag of £200+, it might seem extravagant or expensive, but I think that it is worth every penny!

Amazon Echo Show

Living room

Over £200

The device connects seamlessly to many of my smart gadgets around the home, boiling the kettle, turning on and off lights as I ask it.

With poor mobility, I like that I can turn on a fan without having to walk to it or reach for the plug socket.

Connected homes make living a lot easier for me.

Flawless performance

The product grows with weekly updates, but it was worth the money on day one!
